GREEN CAMPUS Köln Sustainable and urban networks

The Green Campus in Cologne is not only the link between the districts of Ehrenfeld and Lindenthal, but also a district development for a better quality of life and modern office working environments - with the highest standards.

The previously completely built-up and therefore sealed area is being transformed into a sustainable campus through urban urban design. Short distances and a mix that ensures a high quality of stay create a new meeting place as a model for the future. An office campus consisting of three detached and terraced buildings is being built on the 1.4 hectare site. These are connected by innovative path concepts, green spaces, play and activity areas as well as other recreational facilities, creating the Green Campus as a whole.

After completion, there will be mixed-use areas on the ground floor alongside modern office space - in keeping with the campus spirit. In the first floor zones, stores, restaurants and cultural venues, such as studios or galleries, will attract not only the office users of the Green Campus but also the neighborhood.

The aim is to implement a sustainable and climate-resilient construction method with robust and flexible building structures and therefore a long service life. Quality architecture, site enhancement and sustainability harmonize with each other in the Green Campus. Compliance with ESG criteria and taxonomy requirements as well as DGNB Platinum certification are being sought for this pioneering project. The green roofs with recreational areas are designed with biodiversity in mind and also have photovoltaic systems. The mobility concept includes a mobility hub in the underground parking garage, bicycle parking spaces, e-charging stations and the integration of cyclists and pedestrians with a convincing route concept. The Green Campus is very well connected to public transport, with stops on Melatengürtel and Oskar-Jäger-Straße.

Building rights will be created on the basis of a resolution passed in November 2023 for a new development plan. The site is currently still developed with the existing halls of a former car dealership and is already being upgraded in the planning phase with an interim cultural use.
